Ruchi was always up for a good joke, and her eyes would open wider and she'd say, "you can't be serious?" And then we'd all crack up laughing. We loved to trade silly Hindi and English slang and have a good laugh over it. Ruchi and I have caught buses in Delhi dangerously late at night when she was studying at JNU and I was learning dance. No one could mess with us then! Even my dance teacher loved her. We could talk about our deepest thoughts and she'd listen caringly; she always wished people well.
